The Role
As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of one of the UK’s most significant defence infrastructure programmes. You’ll lead the design and delivery of electrical systems that support the maintenance of Astute Class submarines – critical assets in national defence. This is a career-defining opportunity to contribute to a programme that will shape the future of naval engineering while accelerating your own professional growth.
Day‑to‑day, you’ll support the delivery of electrical systems as part of the Electrical Engineering Team in Devonport:
- Leading and managing one or more technical design packages, ensuring requirements are met throughout the design process
- Providing technical design guidance and reviewing sub‑contractor designs for compliance with specifications and standards
- Collaborating across engineering functions and stakeholders to integrate designs and manage interfaces
- Maintaining the engineering configuration of the design intent through effective change control
- Supporting the delivery of safe, compliant and innovative electrical engineering solutions
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with typically 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
