At Babcock, our purpose is to create a safe and secure world, together. As a Mechanical Production Support Operative at HMNB Devonport, you'll play an important role in supporting this mission and contributing to work of national importance.
The role:
- Support the maintenance and operational readiness of critical Royal Navy platforms.
- Support mechanical production activities across a diverse range of platforms including surface ships, submarines, and factory-based operations.
- Assist in the mechanical assembly, maintenance and repair of components and systems on naval vessels and within factory settings.
- Support production teams with tooling, materials and technical guidance.
- Carry out inspections, fault diagnosis and basic testing of mechanical systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, managers and quality teams to resolve production issues.
This role is full time, working 35 hours per week and based on site at Devonport.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance and production support.
- Experience working on marine platforms, including surface ships or submarines, or within industrial manufacturing or maintenance environments.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices within high-risk environments.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and propulsion systems.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2, or equivalent qualification, in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must hold or be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
