As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We have opportunities for Mechanical Fitters to work on a wide range of projects where you’ll be at the heart of our operations, assembling and maintaining advanced mechanical systems that help protect national security. This is a hands-on role in a dynamic, safety-critical environment where your skills will directly contribute to the readiness of the Royal Navy’s fleet. You’ll gain exposure to complex engineering challenges and collaborate with expert teams, accelerating your career development and technical growth.
What you’ll do:
- Installing, aligning, and assembling mechanical components to precise tolerances.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Operating workshop machinery and specialised tools.
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems.
- Conducting functional tests, leak detection, and pressure testing.
What you’ll need:
- Proficient in the maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic, pneumatic, rotating, and static mechanical systems.
- Proficient in laser alignment, vibration analysis, and system commissioning/decommissioning.
- Self-driven with a strong commitment to career development and continuous improvement.
- Holds a time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting.
- Experienced in mentoring apprentices and sharing technical knowledge with peers.
Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
