Shape Safety Strategy Across Complex Projects
At Cavendish Nuclear we are working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Senior Safety Case Consultant at one of our key locations: Warrington (Cheshire), Leicester (Leicestershire), Bristol or Newbury.
The role
As a Senior Safety Case Consultant you will manage the delivery of engineering and technical activities, through the application of process, domain knowledge and experience. Day to day, you will:
- Participate in / facilitate HAZID and HAZOP studies and develop Hazard Management Strategies.
- Author and verify radiological safety assessments, including dose calculations, risk assessments and ALARP justifications.
- Contribute to the preparation of Safety Case documentation, including Safety Reports such as PSRs, PCSRs, and their equivalents.
- Manage the delivery of assigned work, maintaining oversight of progress against cost and programme, and proactively identifying and escalating project risks within your remit.
- Support and mentor junior team members in the development of safety case deliverables, fostering technical growth and consistency.
- Maintain visibility of technical and safety case strategies across projects, sharing key arguments and promoting best practice throughout the team.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and offers hybrid working. This role is adaptable and can be delivered from various locations including Bristol, Warrington, or Leicester.
Essential experience of the Senior Safety Case Consultant:
- Although nuclear experience is a preference, we will consider applicants from other highly regulated industries, such as Oil & Gas, Chemicals and Defence.
- Solid experience in the production of safety cases, with a clear understanding of associated processes and requirements.
- Strong grasp of the ALARP principle and its application within safety assessments.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with other disciplines, including engineering and radiological protection, to deliver integrated project solutions.
Qualifications for the Senior Safety Case Consultant:
- Engineering or science degree (or equivalent qualification) with significant demonstrable experience.
- Preferably Chartered (or actively working toward Chartered Status).
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC Level security clearance for this role.
