The role
As an NDT Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will work towards the delivery of weapons stowage and launch systems for submarines to suit a global market.
Day-to-day, you’ll ensure compliance for all NDT operations within the organisation and its supply chain, ensuring proper processes are followed in accordance with relevant standards across several projects.
- Review and develop NDT procedures, techniques, and written practices.
- Review and interpret codes, standards, and specifications relevant to contract requirements.
- Collaborate with other business units within the wider organisation on NDT issues.
- Support the design of new products, providing NDT expertise on inspection techniques, identifying limitations, and engineering testing solutions.
- Show a drive for self-development, utilizing training to fulfill your role and responsibilities, sharing knowledge with team members, and seeking team development opportunities.
This role is full-time, 37 hours per week, based on-site at Ashton Vale, with regular travel across internal and customer sites.
Essential experience of the NDT Engineer
- In-depth knowledge of basic NDT methods and underlying theory.
- Recent relevant experience in a similar engineering environment.
- Experience handling high-profile strategic projects.
Qualifications for the NDT Engineer
- PCN / ASNT Level 2 or 3 in two or more methods: Visual (VT), Penetrant (PT), Magnetic (MT), Ultrasonic (UT).
- Qualification in Radiographic Testing (RT) and/or Phased Array UT (PAUT) is desirable.
- Experience and qualifications from a recognised NDT apprenticeship scheme are desirable but not essential.
- Full UK driving licence required.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
Many positions are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions, which may affect eligibility based on nationality, citizenship, or residency.
