As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll operate and maintain highly specialised mechanical systems in a dynamic, technically complex, and tightly regulated environment within the nuclear sector. You’ll work as part of a dedicated Maintenance Team, providing essential support to the Heysham 2 power station to help ensure safe and efficient operation of critical infrastructure. The role involves hands-on work with precision equipment, routine and reactive maintenance tasks, and close collaboration with engineering and operations teams. Your efforts will contribute to the continued safety, reliability, and performance of the site, supporting the UK\\\’s energy resilience.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the availability of required tools, spare parts, and equipment to carry out tasks efficiently (general hand tools are typically provided by the resident Site Team).
- Interpret and execute assigned tasks in accordance with all relevant quality standards, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Complete assigned work scopes within agreed timeframes and budget constraints, maintaining a focus on quality and efficiency.
- Prepare and complete all necessary documentation and records in a timely manner, such as Assembly & Test Plans and maintenance reports.
- Receive support from supervisory staff during task execution, with access to site services including quality assurance, safety, and administrative support as needed.
Working Arrangements
This is a permanent, full-time position with contracted hours of 37 per week. Working hours are 08:30 – 16:30 Monday – Thursday / 08:30 – 13:30 Friday. Overtime is frequently available and is paid at time and a half. Please note that this position involves manual work, including lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.
Requirements
- Essential experience: Proven experience in a Mechanical Technician role.
- Qualifications: Level 3 engineering qualification.
- Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.
