The role:
- As a Software Support Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting one of the most technically advanced defence programmes in the UK.
- You will help plan, develop and manage the digital and computer resources that underpin the through‑life support of Royal Navy submarine platforms, now and in the future.
- Day-to-day, you’ll support the development of Support Solutions for Digital Assets including in-scope Hardware, Software and Firmware over various in-service and future Royal Navy platforms along with shore establishments.
- Supporting the development of support solutions for digital assets, including hardware, software and firmware.
- Driving or contributing to Integrated Logistics Support activities, with a focus on computer resources and software support.
- Analysing information to enable effective software support analysis and informed engineering decisions.
- Creating and maintaining technical reports that support programme, compliance and process requirements.
- Identifying issues and developing practical proposals for investigations, improvements and long‑term solutions.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Software Support Engineer:
- Experience supporting systems or digital assets within a highly regulated industry.
- Working knowledge of computer resources, software environments or digital infrastructure.
- Ability to analyse technical information and translate it for different stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, self‑driven approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
