The role
As a Field Mechanical Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll operate at the heart of clean energy and national resilience, building, maintaining and restoring high‑integrity mechanical systems that keep reactors and turbine halls performing safely and efficiently.
Day‑to‑day you’ll be required to:
- Prepare and stage the right tools, spares and equipment for each task, using site‑supplied tools where appropriate.
- Work safely to legislation, ACoPs and EDF/Cavendish Nuclear procedures—stopping or escalating when conditions aren’t safe.
- Interpret and execute work to required quality standards, finishing within agreed time and budget.
- Create and maintain accurate task documentation and records (for example, Assembly and Test Plans).
- Communicate progress, issues and resolutions clearly with site teams and the customer, asking for support when needed.
Set working times are 37 hours per week: Monday to Wednesday 07:30–18:00, Thursday 07:30–15:00.
