The role
As a Fleet Operative Driver, you’ll be part of a vital team supporting the UK’s defence operations. You’ll provide safe and reliable transport for military personnel and equipment across the UK and occasionally overseas. This is a hands‑on role where your driving skills will directly contribute to national readiness and operational success.
Day to day
- Driving military and civilian vehicles, including electric vehicles, HGVs, and coaches
- Transporting personnel and equipment to training exercises and operational duties
- Performing Level 1 (User) maintenance checks before, during, and after use
- Responding to customer queries with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Supporting fleet operations through administrative tasks
The role is based onsite at the Royal School of Military Engineering, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week.
Essential experience
- Proven experience working with vehicles
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude
- Flexible approach to working hours, including potential overtime
- Basic computer literacy
Qualifications
- Full UK Category B driving licence
- Full UK Category D driving licence
Security clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. Your eligibility may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
