Location: Stoke Gifford, Bristol (Hybrid working arrangements – 2–3 days per week onsite).

Compensation: Competitive + Benefits.

Employment type: Full time / Permanent (35 hours per week).

Overview: As a Finance Manager, you will provide senior‑level financial leadership to complex, defence‑critical submarine programmes within Babcock’s Nuclear Sector. This is not a routine accounting role; it involves managing finance in an environment governed by Ministry of Defence contracting rules, requiring strong judgement, credibility, and commercial acumen. You will influence strategic decision‑making through forecasting, earned value management and performance reporting, support contract proposals, and continuously improve financial processes. You also have line‑management responsibilities and may deputise for the Head of Finance.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce monthly accounts in line with company procedures and strict reporting deadlines.
  • Deliver performance and forecasting reports to senior leaders and directors.
  • Support earned value management and estimates at completion for Ministry of Defence contracts.
  • Provide financial leadership to project teams, including budgeting and quarterly forecasts.
  • Lead and develop team members, deputising for the Head of Finance as required.

Essential Experience:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills, with the ability to turn complex data into clear insight.
  • Strong analytical capability, able to communicate concise messages to senior stakeholders.
  • Proven experience delivering to tight deadlines in a pressured environment.
  • Confident communicator and collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organised, proactive and disciplined in financial processes.

Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA).

Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
