The role
As a Facility Control Officer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join as a Facility Control Officer, playing a key role in the Dockside Management Organisation. Work under the Plant Manager, with future oversight from the Dockside Manager, ensuring operational efficiency and control.
Day-to-day, you’ll serve as the Plant Management Group’s representative, ensuring de-confliction, safe release, and control of work within the facility, maintaining operational efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.
- Ensure governance, verifying nuclear-implicated work and supervising Docksides safety cases and project schedules.
- Collaborate with Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) Ship Control Office, overseeing work releases, nuclear tasks, asset disposal, and assessment registrations.
- Support the Facilities Authorisation Group Chairperson and wider Plant Manager organisation within MIP.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to maintain operational efficiency.
This role is full time 35, hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential Experience Of The Facility Control Officer
- Confident in intervening and challenging personnel across all business levels when necessary.
- Safety leadership, actively promoting and adhering to safety policies.
- Proven experience in nuclear submarine facilities, ensuring expertise in operational environments.
Qualifications For The Facility Control Officer
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an engineering discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Nuclear Plant Foundation Course (NUC0793), Submarine Quality Assurance Course (QUAL0002), and ASQEP Course (NUC0897) – Desirable

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
