Overview

Lead critical infrastructure that supports national security at HMNB Clyde, near Helensburgh. This role involves managing, operating, and maintaining a highly specialised facility critical to the UK's defence capabilities.

Responsibilities

Day‑to‑day duties include:

  • Leading and motivating the Explosive Handling Jetty team to deliver safe, efficient and effective operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, security, environmental and quality requirements across the facility.
  • Acting as the Facility Operator's representative at Nuclear Safety Committees and key stakeholder forums.
  • Managing resources, equipment and operational activities to maximise facility availability and performance.
  • Supporting the delivery of engineering and infrastructure services in accordance with cost, quality and time objectives.

Essential Experience

  • Experience managing complex operational facilities, infrastructure or engineering environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Explosive Handling Jetty operations, procedures and processes.
  • Experience leading teams and managing operational performance in a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
  • Experience with programme management and maintenance management activities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent qualification.
  • Working at Heights certification.
  • Confined Space Competent Person certification.
  • Water Rescue Equipment Training.
  • DSEAR Awareness Training for Line Managers.

Desirable

  • Additional qualifications in facilities management, infrastructure operations or leadership.
  • Experience within defence, nuclear, marine engineering or highly regulated industries.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National able to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) security clearance. Certain roles may be subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions based on nationality and residency.
