About Us

The role

As an Electrical Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of the Type 31 Project, delivering five advanced frigates to the Royal Navy—vessels designed for global operations, humanitarian aid, and defence missions. Your work will directly contribute to national security and cutting-edge naval engineering, while offering you exceptional career development opportunities.

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Install electrical equipment within marine environments, including shock and non-shock mounted items.
  • Fit cable containment systems and check wiring for electrical systems.
  • Work on power distribution, lighting, fire detection, control circuits, and combat systems.
  • Perform glanding and termination of cabling using various methods, including Mil-spec connectors.
  • Install and test fibre optic systems.

This is a full-time, permanent role working 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday (7:30am–5:00pm) at Rosyth Dockyard. As the project progresses, overtime and shift work opportunities will be available, enabling you to earn enhanced rates.

Essential experience of the Electrical Technician:

  • Multi-pin plug connection and assembly.
  • Low voltage systems installation.
  • Installation of control systems.
  • Fire detection and alarm systems installation and maintenance.
  • Emergency lighting installation and maintenance.

Qualifications for the Electrical Technician:

  • Minimum ONC in Electrical Engineering or Level 3 Electrical Apprenticeship.
  • Preferred: Additional marine or defence-related electrical certifications.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
