The role
As a Data Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll design, build, and maintain systems and architectures that enable the collection, processing, storage, and access of UKA and customer data, supporting analytics robustly.
Day-to-day, you’ll support data governance and protection, while helping to select and deploy new tools and technologies to improve data generation, capture, integration, and processing. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with the wider business to deliver analysis projects, focusing on data collection and management
- Leading data collection, cleansing, and integration from various sources, including setting up APIs and automated data extraction from external sources
- Auditing and managing data quality, providing insights on issues and improvements
- Supporting Data Analysts in identifying trends within large datasets
- Monitoring and troubleshooting data infrastructure, pipelines, and architectures within assigned projects
This full-time role involves 37 hours per week and offers flexibility, with work from various locations including Bristol, Leicester, Devonport, Lyneham, Warrington, Whetstone, London, Wyton, and Yeovilton. Regular travel to internal and customer sites is required alongside home working arrangements.
Essential experience for the Data Engineer

Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or relevant experience and skills

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
