The role

As a Data Engineer, you’ll design, build, and maintain systems and architectures that enable the collection, processing, storage, and access of UKA and customer data, supporting analytics robustly.

Daily responsibilities include supporting data governance and protection, and contributing to the deployment of new tools and technologies for data management. You will:

  • Collaborate with the business to deliver analysis projects, focusing on data collection and management
  • Lead data collection, cleansing, and integration from various sources, including setting up APIs and automated data extraction
  • Audit and improve data quality, providing insights on issues
  • Assist Data Analysts in identifying trends within large datasets
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data infrastructure and pipelines within projects

This full-time role (37 hours/week) offers flexibility and can be based in locations such as Bristol, Leicester, Devonport, Lyneham, Warrington, Whetstone, London, Wyton, and Yeovilton, with regular travel and home working arrangements.

Essential experience

  • Experience in API data integration
  • Experience managing Data Security, Quality, and Compliance
  • Experience with Metadata management
  • Proficiency in programming languages like SQL, Java, Python, and R
  • Experience with data processing tools such as Spark

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or relevant experience and skills
