The role
As a Data Engineer, you’ll design, build, and maintain systems and architectures that facilitate the collection, processing, storage, and access of UKA and customer data, supporting analytics robustly.
Daily responsibilities include supporting data governance and protection, and contributing to the deployment of new tools and technologies for data management. You will:
- Collaborate with the business to deliver analysis projects, focusing on data collection and management
- Lead data collection, cleansing, and integration from various sources, including setting up APIs and automated external data extraction
- Audit and improve data quality, providing insights into issues and potential improvements
- Assist Data Analysts in identifying trends within large datasets
- Monitor and troubleshoot data infrastructure, pipelines, and architectures within assigned projects
This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements from various locations including Bristol, Leicester, Devonport, Lyneham, Warrington, Whetstone, London, Wyton, and Yeovilton. Regular travel to internal and customer sites is required alongside home working.
Essential experience
- Experience building and consuming APIs for data integration
- Experience managing Data Security, Quality, and Compliance
- Experience with Metadata management
- Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Java, Python, and R
- Experience with data processing and pipelining tools like Spark
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or relevant experience and skills
Security Clearance
