The role:

As an Electrical Fitter, you’ll play a vital role in supporting critical defence infrastructure by maintaining and operating electrical systems and specialist equipment. This is a hands-on opportunity where your skills directly contribute to operational readiness and national security, while offering excellent opportunities to develop your technical expertise in a highly regulated and safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
  • Completing defect diagnosis, repairs, and fault finding to maintain operational performance
  • Operating EHJ systems and equipment in line with approved procedures
  • Supporting facility control room watchkeeping and associated operational duties
  • Following safe systems of work and contributing to continuous improvement of processes and safety

This is a full-time role based on site at HMNB Clyde, typically working 37 hours per week.

Essential experience:

  • Working with electrical systems and industrial equipment maintenance
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Applying safe systems of work, including risk assessments and COSHH processes
  • Understanding maintenance procedures and documentation
  • Operating within highly regulated or safety-critical environments

Qualifications:

  • Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent (essential)
  • Awareness of health and safety practices such as Asbestos Awareness, Confined Spaces, and Working at Height (preferred)
  • Emergency First Aid certification (preferred)
  • Relevant skilled person status or technical training (advantageous)

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
