The role As a Chief Technologist ISTAR and Cyber, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The primary purpose of this role is to provide advanced technical thought leadership across all delivery areas and campaigns within the business – ensuring that we inject the most appropriate technologies to solve our customers’ challenges. Day-to-day, you’ll Oversee and ensure the implementation of cutting-edge technology strategies for the Skynet Satcom service. The role will be dual focused, in one direction being the lead, Technology Advisor to the Space System Design Authority and with a second focus as being the lead Technology Advisor for activities across various Government agencies. Draw upon experience delivering in our customer domains to provide deep technical guidance and mentorship to assist our engineering teams with implementation of the most appropriate solutions in design and support. Conduct Technology Horizon Scanning activities to identify emerging ideas, technologies and trends that could be beneficial to Babcock investigating further. Establish a pipeline for new technology adoption that allows new technology opportunities to be briefed to the appropriate stakeholders such that a defined route to market can be identified and prosecuted. Identify and participate in technical working groups internally and externally on behalf of Babcock that enhance our external technical presence and reputation as a technology thought leader. Contribute to Business Winning activities in support of new opportunities and bidding where required – help to secure our position by offering a robust technical solution and proposal in our tender responses, including via ACNs and CCPs. This role is full time 37 hours per week and is based on site at Ashchurch site. Essential experience of the Chief Technologist ISTAR and Cyber The ability to inject new technologies into the customer Strong experience within horizon scanning and identifying new technologies Strong experience within SATCOM and RF Engineering.
