The role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll join our expanding Design Services Alliance Task Team, contributing to some of the UK’s most significant clean‑energy and civil decommissioning programmes. This is an opportunity to work on technically diverse, highly regulated engineering projects that directly support the safe deconstruction and futureproofing of nuclear facilities.
You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary engineering community, collaborating across design, safety, and project teams. Your work will help enhance plant performance, improve engineering standards, and develop innovative solutions that support essential national infrastructure—while accelerating your own technical and professional growth.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Driving effective collaboration across engineering and project delivery teams
- Acting as a technical interface with customers, suppliers, and wider stakeholders
- Conducting technical investigations and analysis to improve designs and resolve issues
- Ensuring correct application of engineering codes, standards, and safety requirements
- Supporting development of design specifications, models, and documentation.
This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week based at either of our Westlake’s Science Park, Moor Row or Warrington, Cheshire sites with occasional travel to other project sites as required.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Engineer:
- Proficiency with CAD tools and strong knowledge of general engineering drawing practice
- Ability to build strong, influential relationships with key stakeholders
- A proactive, delivery‑focused mindset with the confidence to challenge and improve existing approaches.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer:
- Engineering degree (or equivalent) in a relevant mechanical or engineering discipline.
Security Clearance
