The role
As a Buyer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will utilise procurement and supply chain expertise to help generate significant value for the business by reducing the total cost of bought in goods and services and manage supplier relationships to increase the overall value derived from the supply chain. Day-to-day, you’ll continuously champion high performance, challenge the status quo and actively propose new ideas on how we can make things better and always put the customer first.
- Prepare, issue and review supplier RFQ’s, recommending preferred options to the relevant stakeholders.
- Converting purchase requisitions to purchase orders and issuing to suppliers, negotiating appropriate T&C’s for the protection of the organisation.
- Manage and develop supplier relationships.
- Pro-active supplier order book management activities.
This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with three days in the office/onsite and two days working from home.
Essential Experience Of The Buyer
- Procurement experience, ideally in an operational procurement environment.
- Experience in sourcing new materials and services.
- Must have a flexible approach to workload, confident reading and understanding technical drawings and ability to communicate complex requirements to/from supply chain.
- Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
- Must have a good understanding of complex manufacturing processes and principles.
- Must be self-motivated with a flexible approach to workload.
- Working knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and IFS (desirable).
Qualifications For The Buyer
- A recognised degree level qualification and/or relevant engineering/supply chain/lean culture experience.
- Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS at level 4 or above is advantageous.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role.
