Plan the Availability of the Royal Navy’s Submarines
At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Maintenance Planning Engineer at our Babcock Technology Centre or Devonport Royal Dockyard sites.
The role:
- As a Maintenance Planning Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Your work directly supports national security and fleet readiness, giving you a unique platform to grow your engineering, planning and stakeholder skills in a career that truly matters.
- Day-to-day, you’ll help optimise through life maintenance plans for the Royal Navy’s in service submarines.
- Working in a fast paced, high consequence environment, you’ll analyse complex data, balance maintenance requirements against operational programmes, and collaborate with subject matter experts across Babcock, the Ministry of Defence and industry partners.
- Supporting programme changes and “what if” scenarios to keep submarines safe, capable and available.
- Using a dedicated asset management tool to manage maintenance requirements through life.
- Collaborating with experts across Babcock, the Royal Navy, MOD and industry partners to optimise work packages.
- Contributing to the development of the through life boat plan application alongside the team.
This role is full time 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with a minimum of 2 days in the office/onsite.
Essential experience of the Maintenance Planning Engineer:
- Engineering experience with a solid understanding of maintenance requirements and planning.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels.
- Ability to produce clear technical reports and identify improvement opportunities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Strong IT skills and experience analysing data in Excel or similar tools.
Qualifications for the Maintenance Planning Engineer:
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or HNC/HND with demonstrable relevant experience.
- Marine, defence or asset intensive industry experience is welcomed.
