Engineer the technology that protects critical national capabilities. As a Field Programmable Gate Array and Embedded Software Engineer at Ashton, near Bristol, Somerset, you will work on advanced systems that safeguard national security and deliver real‑world impact.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to design, build, test, and deploy embedded RF applications across the full life cycle.
  • Integrate applications with an OpenCPI platform and system‑on‑chip platforms.
  • Design FPGA solutions including DSP elements.
  • Conduct test and verification activities.
  • Facilitate data exchange with higher‑level services.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week, and offers hybrid working arrangements with days on site and days working from home.

Essential Experience

  • Proven, recent FPGA development experience across multiple projects.
  • Experience in VHDL or Verilog.
  • Experience with embedded Linux or comparable operating systems.
  • Experience contributing to test, verification, and integration activities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance. The role requires sole UK nationality. National security clearance and Trade Control restrictions may affect eligibility based on place of birth, nationality, or residency.
