About The Programme
As an Aircraft Fleet Analyst Apprentice, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working with data from both internal systems and industry sources, you’ll create dashboards and reports that inform critical business decisions. Your contribution will be essential in enabling aircraft onboarding and disposal, supporting financial management, conducting through‑life analysis, and tackling technical challenges that influence asset value.
Day‑to‑day, you’ll be involved in:
- Managing the aircraft fleet database and repository
- Supporting delivery of the Fleet and Technical strategy
- Capturing, analysing, and presenting aviation project data
- Monitoring aircraft utilisation and other fleet performance metrics
- Identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement
Your work will directly support the Global Aviation Strategy, ensuring effective administration and management of all Fleet & Technical team activities.
Your education / training
After completing a six‑month internal training period, you’ll begin your Level 4 Asset Manager Apprenticeship with Teesside University. Delivered primarily online, this 18‑month programme offers flexibility to learn alongside your role, with occasional company‑funded trips to the university. The apprenticeship leads to a Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) in Asset Management and is accredited by the Institute of Asset Management. It’s designed to give you the knowledge and skills to optimise asset performance throughout its lifecycle – reducing costs, managing risk, and driving business success.
During the programme, you’ll complete the following core modules:
- Introduction to Asset Management – Explore the principles and frameworks that underpin effective asset management.
- Asset Health and Lifecycle Enhancement – Learn how to monitor, maintain and improve asset performance over time.
- Management and Planning – Build skills in planning and resource allocation to optimise asset utilisation.
- Strategic Asset Management and Decision Making – Understand how to align asset strategies with business objectives and make informed decisions.
- Work‑Based Project – Apply your learning to a real‑world project, demonstrating your ability to deliver tangible results.
Assessment methods include written and computer‑based exams, presentations, coursework, and an end‑point assessment (EPA) to confirm your knowledge, skills and behaviours.
Future prospects
Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, you’ll have the opportunity for salary progression and increased responsibility – moving from a supporting role to managing your own projects within the Aviation Sector Fleet & Technical team. Through the Babcock Role Framework, you’ll have a clear view of how your career can progress, with mapped‑out pathways, development opportunities and the tools you need to get wherever you want to go.
