The role
As a Gas Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a key role in maintaining the essential mechanical and heating systems that keep the RSME Minley estate running safely, efficiently and reliably. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in defence, aerospace and engineering by ensuring critical facilities remain operational for those who rely on them every day.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, reactive and remedial maintenance across mechanical systems and equipment
- Conduct site checks, weekly inspections and diagnose faults to deliver effective repairs
- Repair and service commercial boilers and support mechanical system upgrades or replacements
- Manage mechanical system supplies, ensuring correct inventory levels
- Complete occasional plumbing tasks as required
This position involves manual work which could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods. The role is based onsite at RSME Minley, with set working times Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm and Friday 8am to 4pm, totaling 40 hours per week.
Essential experience
- Proven commercial gas engineering experience
- Strong mechanical maintenance and repair background
- Experience working with commercial boilers and associated systems
- Confidence carrying out fault diagnosis
- Comfortable working independently on a large site
Qualifications
- CCN1 or COCN1 – Core Commercial Natural Gas Safety
- Full UK manual driving licence
Security clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. Many positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. Eligibility may be affected by place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
