Lead commercial performance across complex rail contracts. At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. We’re looking for a Commercial Manager to join our Rail (Land) business, based at Cadder Yard with hybrid working.

As Commercial Manager, you’ll take ownership of the commercial performance of multiple projects, ensuring contracts are managed effectively and financial outcomes are protected. You’ll lead and develop a team of commercial professionals, provide expert advice to project teams, and act as a trusted partner to clients and senior stakeholders.

Day‑to‑day, you will:

  • Lead the commercial management of a portfolio of rail works, ensuring profitability and compliance
  • Manage cost control, revenue, forecasting, and cash collection processes
  • Oversee contracts, change control, and claim to protect the company’s commercial position
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Lead, coach, and develop commercial team members to drive high performance.

Essential Experience:

  • Strong commercial leadership experience within construction, rail, or infrastructure environments
  • Proven ability to manage complex contracts and commercial risk
  • Confident communicator and negotiator, able to influence at all levels
  • Commercially astute with a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or working towards (desirable)
