The role
As an Armoury Assistant, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for the issue, receipt, storage and after-use checking of weapons held in the armoury.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- After-use confirmatory checks of service weapons and associated equipment which are consistent with current training & qualifications to depth A.
- Assisting in carrying out FFE (Free From Explosives) duties as detailed by the Explosives Supervisor.
- Covering range warden during periods of absence and assisting range warden in work when required.
- Undertake Duty Armourer as detailed by the Supervisors including complying with and implementing H & S policy and measures in your area of responsibility.
- Assisting the explosive staff during bulk movements of ammunition and assisting Explosive supervisor in all ammunition processing, accounting, issuing and receipting.
This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Halton.
Essential experience
- Explosive knowledge required as will be covering the Explosive Supervisor for issues and receipts during periods of absence.
- Previously worked in an environment requiring following of instruction and guidance specifically involving health and safety elements.
Armourer weapons maintenance or repair training will be given and undertaken by the successful applicant for this role.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
