What will you do on the programme?

Our Aerospace Engineering programme provides a broad introduction to aviation maintenance engineering, with exposure to a wide range of technical disciplines and operational environments. You could work on aircraft systems to ensure continued airworthiness, gain insight into aviation safety and compliance, or explore human factors that support safe and efficient operations. Placements may include safety management processes and regulatory frameworks, or contributing to technical delivery programmes that support frontline capabilities, such as air ambulance maintenance and modification work or military flying training on platforms like the Grob Tutor. You’ll work with experienced professionals across the full lifecycle of aircraft engineering management, driving continuous improvement and innovation while building skills to contribute to operations.

How is the programme structured?

This is a two-year programme made up of placements to give a complete view of our Aviation sector. You’ll rotate through key engineering and operational areas, such as Continuing Airworthiness Management (CAMO), Maintenance Planning and Technical Services, Safety and Regulatory Compliance (MAA, CAA, EASA), Fleet Engineering and Systems Support, Technical Delivery Programmes and Project Delivery, Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Support, and Data Analysis and Performance Management. Some rotations may require location changes. The first year focuses on operational roles; the second year broadens to provide a wider business perspective, including supply chain, bids, programme and contract management. You’ll be supported throughout.

You’ll join our Graduate Development Programme with masterclasses on communication, personal branding, resilience, and wellbeing. To support your journey toward Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, we offer full guidance and cover all associated fees.

Places are available in the Aviation sector. Babcock delivers aviation services to civil and defence sectors. Roles include military flying training, air station support, emergency medical flights, search and rescue, and aerial firefighting. Placements at different sites across the UK are possible; agile working is supported. Some relocation may be required.
