The Role
Network Planning Lead
Salary: £63,000 - £70,000
To drive the development of the BA Euroflyer route network, optimising customer attractiveness, cost efficiency and profitability. The Network Planning Lead is accountable for shaping the commercial direction and long-term performance of the network, ensuring it grows in line with company strategy.
What You’ll Do
- Own the development of commercial network plans that deliver a profitable BA Euroflyer route network, aligned to market demand and commercial need.
- Hold end-to-end accountability for route and network performance, reviewing results and making changes in response to demand, competition, customer trends and the operational environment.
- Develop and continuously improve robust evaluation methodologies to support network decisions, including business cases for new routes, capacity growth and the reduction or cancellation of underperforming routes.
- Set the strategic direction for each route and align seasonal planning with long-term network strategy.
- Act as the authority on commercial network decisions, including capacity deployment, route launches and suspensions, using financial modelling, scenario analysis and opportunity-cost insights.
- Work with senior route development teams, airports and tourist boards to identify new opportunities and negotiate commercial deals that stimulate demand and support profitability.
- Lead cross-functional network strategy projects, challenging the status quo and gaining buy-in from key stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships across BA Euroflyer, British Airways and IAG to develop network solutions that meet commercial, operational and customer needs.
- Represent BA Euroflyer across BA and IAG on network planning matters, increasing visibility and supporting broader business priorities.
What You’ll Bring To British Airways
- Strong analytical capability, combining data insight with commercial understanding to develop clear, actionable recommendations.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, balancing competing commercial and operational priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex insights clearly to a range of audiences.
- Proven influencing skills, able to articulate problems and solutions succinctly and gain stakeholder buy-in.
- A collaborative approach, working effectively across commercial, planning and operational teams at all levels.
- Flexibility to travel and work across different company bases where required.
Your Experience
- Experience in network planning, route development or a related commercial role.
- Good understanding of airline economics, route profitability and the financial drivers of airline performance.
- Experience in financial analysis, including interpreting route performance and cost allocation methodologies.
- Understanding of competitor networks, schedules and market dynamics.
- Knowledge of airline revenue management, pricing and customer purchase behaviour.
- Proven experience making commercially driven decisions based on data and insight.
