Location: Based in Melling, Lancashire
B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North) is a unique organisation working closely with communities across the UK to bring hyperfast, full-fibre broadband to rural areas. As a Community Benefit Society, driven by innovation and a strong sense of purpose, we work hand in hand with local volunteers and stakeholders to deliver a service built by the community, for the community. Joining B4RN means becoming part of a dedicated team making a real difference in people's lives, all whilst thriving in a supportive and collaborative environment.
We are looking for a dedicated and hands-on Civils Operative to help build and maintain our award-winning fibre network.
What you’ll do:
- Install ducting, chambers and associated equipment across varied terrains
- Lay concrete plinths and install cabinets for our fibre network
- Help with fibre optic cabling, splicing and network remedial works
- Service and maintain existing infrastructure to keep communities connected
- Work from network designs, ensuring installations meet agreed plans
- Participate in an on-call rota to support our 24/7 service commitments
What you’ll need:
- A full, valid driving licence
- A commitment to gain your NRSWA Streetworks Operative licence (fully funded by B4RN)
- Practical skills and willingness to work outdoors in all weather
- Commitment to quality, safety and teamwork
