Multi-Skilled Operative
Based in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire
Permanent, full-time, 37 hours per week
Salary: £35,327 - £39,252
Are you an experienced tradesperson who can turn their hand to more than one trade? We're looking for a Multi-Skilled Operative to join our Property Services team.
This is a varied, hands-on role working in our customers' homes and properties across the local area. One job might be carpentry, the next could be plumbing, repairing a door or window, tiling, plastering or decorating. You'll diagnose what's wrong, work out the best way to fix it and get the job done properly.
We're big on getting repairs sorted first time wherever possible. You'll have your own van, tools and materials and will manage your van stock, so you've got what you need for the jobs ahead. You'll also get involved in emergency repairs when needed and keep simple records of the work and materials used.
We're looking for someone who has…
- A Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in carpentry or plumbing
- Good experience across a range of trades, including carpentry, plumbing, locksmithing, UPVC repairs, tiling, plastering and decorating
- The skills to diagnose faults and work out the best way to repair them
- Good knowledge of repairs and common problems in residential properties
- A good understanding of health and safety when working in customers' homes
- A full UK manual driving licence
- Basic IT skills for updating jobs and recording materials
Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can use their initiative and is happy to get stuck in. You'll be working in people's homes, so being friendly, respectful and able to explain what you're doing is important too.
This is a physical job, so you'll need to be comfortable lifting and moving tools and materials, climbing ladders and working at height or in confined spaces when needed.
You'll also need a basic DBS check, which we'll arrange and pay for.
