Overview
The purpose of your role will be to support food product development by combining creative NPD with technical knowledge. You'll work in a fast-paced environment, helping develop new flavours, formats, and product ideas while growing your skills within the business.
Responsibilities
- Help create new food products as well as improving existing ones from ideas to final launch. This includes recipes, trials in the factory, and making sure products work at scale.
- Write and keep up to date all product specifications, technical documents, and compliance paperwork so everything is accurate and organised.
- Ensure products and packaging meet UK and international food laws including labelling, ingredients, and be involved with BRC audits.
- Work closely with suppliers, procurement, quality, and commercial teams to source the right ingredients.
- Run taste panels and benchmarking, liaise with customers and retailers with technical queries and ensure products always meet the highest quality standards.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate should have at least 3 years of NPD experience within food supported with a degree in food science or related field.
- A strong innovation background supported with technical and project management skills is required.
- HACCP qualification and experience with BRC or other audits, food labeling legislation would be advantageous.
- A driving license is essential for this role.
Details
The Food Innovation Technologist job (ref:9009) is paying £45,000 according to your experience. The package includes 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, income protection, life assurance, private medical insurance plus other benefits (benefits begin subject to 3-6 months service). The site is based in Essex and is commutable from Chelmsford, Witham, Basildon, Maldon, Braintree, Colchester and surrounding areas. The working hours are Monday to Friday normal office hours.
