This is a successful family-owned food manufacturing organisation which has grown rapidly and aspires to accelerate this growth over the coming years. Currently a single-site operation, there are plans to move to multi-site to manage the increasing demand. This exciting new role brings with it the opportunity to work closely with the CEO and members of the senior team to develop and drive the people strategy to ensure success of the organisation with the growth plans in place.

As Assistant Development Chef you will be assisting the NPD Development Chef in creating new products through demand and innovation whilst maintaining the high standards that the company are famous for. Your expertise will be used to work on specific briefs as well as originating menu ideas to target new business.

Key tasks:

  • Deliver recipes that align with the company strategy whilst ensuring consistency, quality and manufacturability.
  • Manage new product projects from concept through to implementation, ensuring key milestones are achieved.
  • Monitor new recipes and production processes to maintain quality standards and process compliance across both development and factory operations.
  • Keep abreast of emerging food trends, flavours and cuisines, using your insights to inspire innovative product development.
  • Support the sourcing of new ingredients and suppliers, ensuring products meet quality standards and represent good value.
  • Help evaluate new suppliers by reviewing product specifications and technical information alongside the wider team.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe development kitchen, ensuring equipment and work areas meet high hygiene standards.
  • Contribute to successful recipe creation, new product implementation and continuous improvements in quality, consistency and process compliance across the development function.

About You:

You must be a creative and passionate foodie. Previous experience within a similar food manufacturing environment is desirable but not essential. Confident and personable, you will liaise internally and externally with key stakeholders. You must be professional and presentable with the desire to be a trend setter, not a follower.

The Assistant Development Chef’s job (ref:9065) is paying £30,000 - £35,000 according to your experience. This is Monday to Friday site-based role with company events, pension and free parking. The site is in Leicester and is commutable from Leicester, Wigston, Loughborough, Coalville, Market Harborough and surrounding areas.
