This role is with a successful BRC AA Graded food manufacturer. The company produces high-quality food products and exceptional service, enabling their food manufacturing customers to innovate and increase productivity without compromising on quality.

Overview

The purpose of your role is to assist in all engineering activities by supporting the Engineering Manager and working with internal departments to carry out the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair electrical and mechanical equipment, plant, buildings and utilities to meet safety, legal and business requirements.
  • Respond to breakdowns quickly and carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise downtime.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying issues and working with the engineering team to improve equipment reliability and processes.
  • Work safely and effectively, independently or as part of a team, ensuring all work meets health, safety and food safety standards.
  • Communicate and collaborate with production, technical and other departments to support smooth manufacturing operations.

About You

The successful candidate shall have served an apprenticeship within Electrical Engineering. Qualified to HNC Level and experience of working on PLCs, ideally Mitsubishi/Siemens, would be advantageous. Experience within a food manufacturing environment would also be beneficial.

The Electrical Engineer job (ref:9007) is based in Wigan and pays up to £45,000 (including shift premiums and overtime) according to your experience. The site is based in Wigan, Greater Manchester and is commutable from Manchester, Bolton, Warrington, Preston, Ormskirk, St Helens, Chorley and Bury, along with other areas of Lancashire and Merseyside. The working hours are on weekly rotation: 6:00am to 2:00pm, 2:00pm to 10:00pm, with a 10:00pm to 6:00am shift every one in five weeks. The package includes 21 days holiday plus
