You will be working for a well-established and highly respected manufacturer of high-quality, speciality products. The company has a strong zero food waste ethos and pride themselves on the use of organic and sustainable ingredients and products.
The purpose of your role will be to balance traditional artisan bread making with large-scale production, delivering consistent quality to customers ranging from independent cafés and restaurants to national retailers. The role also involves working closely with senior leaders and other teams on planning, team development, and continuous improvement.
Key tasks
- Lead a team of over 40+ people in bread production, managing day-to-day operations in a busy 24/7 bakery. Ensure the team works efficiently and production always runs smoothly.
- Drive high standards across the operation by improving productivity and keeping close control of costs. Use clear metrics to track performance and support continuous improvement.
- Balance traditional artisan bread making with large-scale production. Supply the same high-quality bread to a wide range of customers.
- Train and support the team while setting clear processes and expectations. Follow strict food safety and quality standards, including BRC and GMP requirements.
- Work closely with senior leaders and other departments on production planning and new product development. Take part in key meetings and occasionally represent the business with customers and partners.
About You
- The successful candidate shall have a strong track record in artisan bread production, within artisan/craft wholesale bakery, preferably within a BRC accredited bakery.
- Experience of strong leadership skills within a similar role and environment – possibly from an Assistant Manager or Senior level position.
The Head of Bakery job (ref:9029) is paying £55,000 - £70,000 according to your experience. The package includes a 10% bonus (targeted on both company and individual performance). This company is commutable from London, Waltham Cross, Enfield, Woodford, Barnet, Romford, Epping, Potters Bar and Edgware.
