The purpose of your role will be to work closely with the Account Management team, where you will identify new opportunities for a range of bread and cake confectionery products across industrial plant and large craft bakery accounts. You’ll take ownership of product demonstrations, creation of briefs for customised products and subsequent trials with customers, to progress NPD samples to full sign off.

Key tasks:
  • Support new ideas and recipe development as well as factory trials and first production runs, and prepare redevelopment briefs to address process, cost, or functionality challenges.
  • Identify profitable NPD opportunities with current and potential customers, develop product briefs with them for R&D, and track market trends to support insight presentations with product samples.
  • Work closely with the R&D teams at the manufacturing source for bread and cake confectionery lines, to ensure ingredients and functionality meet the requirements for the UK market.
  • Manage assigned customer relationships, maintain regular communication with senior and sales teams, and produce timely visit reports, weekly planners, and project briefs.
About You:
  • The successful candidate shall have BTEC or a degree in Bakery Science/Technology or Food Science or 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Good knowledge of bread ingredient functionality i.e. enzymes, improvers etc.
  • Experience of baking within an industrial manufacturing setting would be beneficial.
  • An excellent communicator at all levels, a great problem solver and experience with Microsoft IT systems.

The Development & Technical Baker job (ref:9023) is paying £50,000 to £55,000 per annum according to your experience. This is a remote role with travel required and site visits to Essex approximately twice per week, a car allowance of £5,000 is included. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
