Homebased Technical Manager – Part Time This company is a UK-based supplier offering a wide range of ingredients to food producers. They focus on quality, technical support, and responsible sourcing. About the Technical Manager Reporting to the Managing Director, you’ll be the main technical contact for customers, suppliers, and external bodies. You’ll oversee the technical side of the business, making sure the company meets food safety, quality, and legal standards while balancing customer needs with supplier capabilities. Key tasks * Oversee daily technical operations, audits, and compliance to meet business goals, legal requirements, and quality standards. * Act as the link between customers and suppliers, handling technical queries, complaints, and ensuring product specs are met. * Lead technical input for new product development while monitoring risks, regulations, and sustainability commitments. * Drive food safety, quality culture, and continuous improvement through training, KPI tracking, and corrective actions. About You * The successful candidate shall have a Degree in food or science-related field, with 8+ years’ experience in Technical/Food Safety roles across varied products. * A strong knowledge of BRCGS (esp. Agents & Brokers), microbiology, HACCP, QMS, and food safety legislation. * Skilled in supplier management, auditing, due diligence, and customer/supplier communication. * Highly organised and proactive, with strong project management, IT (Excel, databases, portals), and planning skills as well as being flexible and highly reliable. More details The Technical Manager job (ref:8948) is a part-time home-based role and requires some UK travel as and when required by the business. Our client is ideally seeking a person based in the North of England or the Midlands however other areas would be considered for the right candidate. The role pays £95,000 (pro-rata) according to your experience – the Technical Manager would ideally be self-employed at £50/hour however employment may be an option for the right candidate. The chosen person should expect to work 20 hours a week over a 4-day period; however 3 days would also be considered.
