We are looking for a Commercial Engineer with 2 to 5 years of technical experience to join our team at B2Space.
In this role, you will sit directly between our technical/operations team and our business development leads.
Your main job will be translating complex technical concepts into solid, competitive commercial proposals.
You will handle technical bid writing, assist with outbound prospection, and help potential clients understand how our technology meets their mission needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Writing & Proposals
- Own the technical drafting of proposals, RFIs, RFQs, and scope-of-work documents for clients across defence, commercial space, and research sectors.
- Work with internal flight operations and engineering teams to turn payload specs and mission profiles into accurate cost, schedule, and technical estimates.
- Build bid packages that balance technical requirements with commercial profit margins.
- Commercial Prospection & BD Support
- Support the business development team on outreach to prospective satellite operators, research institutions, and defence clients.
- Join client calls and meetings to explain mission feasibility, platform constraints (payload capacity, altitude parameters, flight conditions), and test procedures.
- Qualify incoming technical leads to figure out early on if their mission profile fits our high-altitude balloon platforms or micro-launcher services.
- Help conduct risk evaluations during the bid/no-bid decision process.
- Keep internal tracking systems (CRM) up to date on active technical bids and tender submissions.
- Feed client feedback, operational requirements, and market trends back to engineering to help shape future capabilities.
- What We Are Looking For
- Technical background: Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
- Relevant experience: 2 to 5 years in an engineering, application engineering, or technical sales/bid manager role (preferably in aerospace, space, defence, or high-tech manufacturing).
- Clear writing: Practical experience writing technical documents, tenders, or customer-facing engineering specs.
- Commercial mindset: Familiarity with basic pricing structures, proposal budgeting, and standard sales pipelines.
- Communication: Ability to talk comfortably with engineers on one side and procurement/business leads on the other.
- Nice to Have
- Understanding of small satellite requirements, LEO missions, or high-altitude operations.
- Experience using CRM systems (e. g., Salesforce, Hub Spot) and MS Excel for pricing models.
- Exposure to defence or space procurement processes in the UK/EU.
Pay range: £30,000-£50,000 depending on experience with variable bonus based on sales.
- This requisition is for a locally hired position in the United Kingdom.
Candidates must possess current legal authorization to work in the UK without requiring visa or labour sponsorship from B2Space.
