About Us
We started as Burrito Kitchen, making the tastiest Burritos (which we still do in 4 locations) but more recently we have rebranded and launched B.Kitchen and we operate build-your-own salad bars, fresh orange juice machines and hot counters within Tesco stores. We are currently trading in 23 locations and we are entering an exciting growth phase with 20 additional stores launching in Q2 this year.
This is a pivotal role for someone who has been there during scale and wants to help shape the next chapter of a fast-growing food retail business.
The Role
We are looking for a dynamic, commercially driven Head of Operations with strong industry experience who is equally comfortable in Tesco meetings, building excel spreadsheets, and on the getting their hands dirty on the shop floor. This role blends strategy with execution - you’ll be responsible for driving sales performance, optimising range and pricing, strengthening our Tesco partnership, and turning data into clear action plans that deliver results in store. If you’ve worked in a chain that scaled while you were there and want to bring that learning to a growing business where your impact is visible and immediate, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Data, Reporting & Analysis
- Own and interpret sales data, producing clear insights and actions
- Lead sales data discussions with senior stakeholders and Ops team
- Track and report like-for-like performance
- Extremely strong Excel capability essential
- Own and develop the day-to-day commercial relationship with Tesco
- Lead preparation, follow-up and action plans from Tesco meetings
- Ensure delivery against agreed KPIs and initiatives
- Develop and deliver sales growth action plans
- Own KPI tracking, including sales uplift, like-for-like performance and product mix
- Lead commercial strategy to support rapid store rollout and sustainable growth
- Monitor and improve overall financial performance
- Lead new product development and launches
- Own range reviews (quarterly total sales analysis)
- Review price lists and product profitability across all suppliers
- Manage Tesco system uploads and product data accuracy
- Analyse percentage of sales by product category
- Regular store visits to review performance, standards and opportunities
- Identify and deliver in-store marketing opportunities
- Lead in-store campaigns, including meal deals and Clubcard activity
- Support store manager induction from a commercial perspective
- Own internal newsletter content linked to sales focus and initiatives
- Support employee surveys and engagement initiatives
- Manage Supervisor and MSM performance metrics and bonus structures
- Manage the operations manager to align commercial and operational priorities
- Input into recruitment decisions where appropriate
- Ensure all commercial initiatives align with compliance requirements
- Partner closely with the Operations team to ensure smooth execution
What We’re Looking For
- Proven commercial experience within food retail, food-to-go or multi-site retail
- Experience in a business that has scaled or expanded significantly
- Not essential but an understanding of Tesco or major grocery retail environments would be beneficial
- Highly analytical with advanced Excel skills
- Comfortable being hands-on in stores as well as strategic at head-office level
- Confident communicator who can influence across teams and externally
- Organised, proactive and commercially curious
Why Join Us?
- Play a key role in a high-growth phase
- Real autonomy and influence over commercial decisions
- Opportunity to shape systems, processes and strategy — not just inherit them
- A business that values action, ideas and impact, not hierarchy
