The Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technical Manager to join our growing team. This is a key leadership role providing technical assurance, compliance oversight, and practical support across our commercial electrical operations. You will act as the technical authority for all electrical activities across our projects, and maintenance divisions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Oversight & Compliance
Act as the competent person and NICEIC Qualified Supervisor, ensuring all works comply with BS7671, EAWR, and relevant H&S regulations.
Oversee the testing, inspection, and certification of electrical installations, reviewing EICRs, minor works, and completion certificates before issue.
Maintain B-Engineeringâs NICEIC accreditation, including responsibility for assessments, documentation, and technical standards.
Lead internal audits of electrical works to ensure safe isolation, testing, and installation procedures are consistently followed.
Advise the estimating and delivery teams on technical requirements of our installations which include solar PV, EV charging, commercial and industrial lighting, HVAC controls, BMS field wiring and general LV installations.
Stay current with industry regulations, technology changes, and legislation, updating internal policies and procedures accordingly.
Project Support & Delivery
Provide technical guidance and support to project managers and site teams during design, installation, and commissioning stages.
Review and approve electrical design drawings, schematics, and calculations, ensuring compliance with client specifications and best practice.
Assist in estimating and tendering, advising on electrical design solutions, materials, and installation methodologies.
Conduct site visits to review quality, progress, and safety performance on live projects.
Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide practical, cost-effective solutions.
Maintenance & Service Support
Support the maintenance division in diagnosing and resolving technical faults across commercial systems, including HVAC plant, control panels, and power distribution.
Provide expert input into planned maintenance regimes and asset lifecycle planning.
Ensure reactive and planned works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standard.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers, supervisors, and apprentices.
Deliver toolbox talks, technical training, and competency assessments.
Support the recruitment and development of new electrical staff, ensuring strong technical capability across the division.
Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Reporting structure
¡We support ongoing professional development, including CPD, technical certifications, and industry memberships.
¡Working knowledge of Building Regulations Part P, CIBSE guidelines, and CDM 2015 requirements
¡ Experience with emergency lighting and fire alarm systems, including integration with life safety protocols
¡Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques including thermal imaging and power quality diagnostics
¡Experienced in preparing O&M documentation, as-built drawings, and delivering client handover training.
Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.
Provide technical presentations or reports as required for client meetings or tenders.
Ensure all client queries or technical issues are handled promptly and professionally.
What Weâre Looking For:
Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
18th Edition Wiring Regulations and Test & Inspection (2391 or equivalent) certification.
Experience in commercial and industrial electrical systems, ideally within HVAC, M&E, renewables or building services.
Strong understanding of electrical compliance, testing, and certification as well as knowledge of HVAC and BMS controls.
Excellent communication and organisational skills with a hands-on, solution-driven approach.
Previous experience in a supervisory or management position preferred.
NICEIC Qualified Supervisor status (or ability to achieve) is desirable.
