Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and technically capable air conditioning service engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and fault diagnostics on split and VRF air conditioning systems across multiple commercial sites. Experience in installing split-type systems would also be preferable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on commercial air conditioning systems (primarily split and VRF).
- Diagnose system faults and carry out repairs efficiently and to a high standard.
- Conduct performance testing, commissioning, and system checks.
- Complete detailed electronic service reports and maintain accurate job records.
- Provide technical advice and support to clients and office teams.
- Comply with all relevant F-Gas regulations and company health & safety policies.
- Occasionally undertake small installation projects for split air conditioning systems.
- Work independently and manage workload across multiple client sites in the North West region.
Required Qualifications & Certifications:
- City & Guilds Level 2 or 3 in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (or equivalent).
- F-Gas Category 1 certification (mandatory).
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- CSCS/ECS card (preferred).
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant HVAC and environmental regulations.
- Proven experience in servicing, fault-finding, and maintaining split and VRF air conditioning systems.
- Strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic ability.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Professional communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Experience working on commercial sites (offices, retail, schools, industrial units, etc.).
- Experience with Daikin, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, or Panasonic VRF systems.
- Basic installation experience on small split systems.
- Additional qualifications such as PASMA, IPAF, or asbestos awareness.
- A proactive attitude with a focus on delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Experience of evaporative cooling and air source heat pumps beneficial.
