We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join a growing accountancy practice. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their accounting career and gain hands-on experience across bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, and accounts preparation. The successful candidate will work closely with senior accountants and clients, supporting the day-to-day accounting function while continuing to build their technical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing bookkeeping records for a range of clients
  • Assisting with VAT returns
  • Processing invoices, receipts, and payments
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Supporting payroll processing
  • Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts
  • Using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or Excel
  • Liaising with clients to request information and resolve queries
  • Supporting senior team members with ad hoc accounting tasks

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is beneficial
  • AAT studier, graduate, or someone with practical accounting training will be considered
  • Good understanding of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles
  • Confident using Excel
  • Knowledge of Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks would be an advantage
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop within accountancy
