Overview
The shifts are structured as split shifts to accommodate patient needs.
This means you will typically work around 4 hours in the morning to disconnect patients, and another 4 hours in the evening to reconnect them, with a break in the middle of the day.
Flexibility is essential; some days may be longer or shorter depending on patient visits, but overall, average out to 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed IV therapies and associated care and support to patients who are unable to be trained to independence.
- Provide training and education to support patients/carers in the connection and disconnection of Parenteral Nutrition and any other prescribed therapies to independence.
- Provide training and education to support patients/carers to use infusion devices to deliver their therapy/therapies independently.
- Support the provision of a phlebotomy/cannulation service for patients.
- Maintain flexibility to travel and visit patients outside the local area.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (adult).
- Minimum 1 year of current clinical experience.
- Competent in the management and delivery of IV therapies.
- Excellent communication skills, time management skills and the ability to work well against strict timescales.
- Ability to make correct clinical decisions in a clinical emergency situation.
- Current valid driving licence.
- Flexibility to travel and visit patients outside the local area.
