For our office in London we are seeking a Risk Analyst (Middle Office) to support BB Energy Trading’s Regional Risk Manager in the daily risk oversight of all physical and paper trading books across oil, oil products and freight.
Key Responsibilities
- Ownership and reporting of daily Position and PnL for BBE Trading’s physical and paper trading desks and liaising with traders on a regular basis to ensure the Positions and market exposures are accurately captured.
- Quantify and explain daily changes in exposure, PNL and VAR.
- Identify and resolve breaks and anomalies as necessary to ensure timeliness is maintained on reporting schedules including for Quarter and Year end.
- Validate deal entry and market data within BB’ ETRM systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Work closely with trade finance, operations and other teams to ensure the relevant information is captured for risk reporting.
- Collaborate with other team members on ad hoc projects, process improvements.
- Monitor local level compliance with internal risk policies and procedures.
Required Experience & Background
- Minimum of 3 – 4 years of experience working in physical oil/Energy commodity markets.
- Understanding of trading, operations, risk and mid/back office business processes, policies and controls.
- Working knowledge financial derivatives (swaps, futures and options), VAR and MTM exposure.
- Strong analytical skills – ability to understand impact of market changes on PnL as well as an economic event in the lifecycle of a deal.
- Experience with energy trading and risk management systems (ETRM), preferably Symphony.
- Strong MS office (Excel) skills are essential, programming skills (SQL, Python) are a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Business with CFA, MBA, CA, or other related education will be an asset.
