An established civil engineering firm is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer to lead on drainage design and delivery, with the flexibility of a home-based/remote working arrangement, requiring travel to the York office just once a month.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced drainage engineer to take on a senior, technically-led role, mentoring junior staff and acting as a key technical point of contact for clients, while enjoying genuine flexibility around where you work.
The Role:
- Leading on drainage design across a varied project portfolio, including SuDS and foul/surface water strategies
- Reviewing and approving drainage designs and calculations produced by junior engineers
- Acting as technical lead and main point of contact for clients on drainage-related matters
- Mentoring and supporting the development of junior engineers within the team
- Liaising with local authorities and water authorities to support consents and approvals
- Contributing to bids, proposals, and business development where relevant
What's Required:
- A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Significant experience in drainage design at Senior or Principal level
- Strong working knowledge of drainage design software (e.g. MicroDrainage/Causeway Flow, Civils 3D) and current standards (e.g. Sewers for Adoption, CIRIA SuDS guidance)
- Chartered status (or working towards) preferred
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently
