Senior Structural Engineer — Location: Ipswich — Salary: £50,000 – £60,000
My client is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to play a key role in their Ipswich office. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects across multiple sectors and materials, taking a hands-on role in shaping innovative and high-quality structural design.
As a senior member of the team, you will take ownership of the technical delivery of projects from early concept through to completion. Reporting to the Associate Director, you’ll be responsible for producing and reviewing design work, coordinating with architects and consultants, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and to the highest professional standards.
About You
- 5–8 years’ post-graduate experience in structural engineering design
- Strong understanding of UK codes, construction methods, and procurement processes
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or actively working toward chartership
- Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills
- A collaborative mindset and passion for creative, design-led engineering
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day technical delivery of structural projects
- Act as project lead, design manager, or discipline lead as needed
- Prepare and review calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports
- Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants
- Attend design meetings, site inspections, and construction reviews
- Manage budgets, schedules, and resource allocation
- Support and mentor junior engineers
- Contribute to team planning and project programming
