A growing sustainability consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Building Physics Consultant to join its expanding technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced consultant with strong building performance and energy modelling expertise to step into a senior, influential role within the business. The position offers a high level of flexibility, with only one office visit required per month, while still providing exposure to technically complex and high-profile developments.

The Role

  • Lead the delivery of building physics and energy modelling services across a broad range of projects.
  • Support both team development and wider business growth.
  • Lead major and technically complex developments through all project stages.
  • Deliver dynamic simulation modelling and detailed building performance analysis using IES VE.
  • Produce overheating assessments in line with TM52, TM59, Part O, and BB101 guidance.
  • Carry out TM54 operational energy modelling and performance analysis.
  • Deliver Part L compliance modelling, SBEM calculations, and EPCs (L2A & L2B).
  • Undertake daylight analysis and broader building performance assessments.
  • Produce decarbonisation reports and support SALIX funding applications.
  • Support strategic decision-making through technical and commercial insight.
  • Mentor and support senior and junior members of the team.
  • Work closely with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Strong background in Building Physics, Sustainability, or Energy Modelling Consultancy.
  • Advanced experience using IES VE and dynamic simulation modelling tools.
  • Proven experience delivering TM52, TM54, Part L, SBEM, and overheating assessments.
  • Ability to manage complex projects independently.
  • Experience mentoring or managing team members.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • Degree qualified in Building Services, Sustainability, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
