An established and highly regarded engineering consultancy is seeking a talented Senior Civil / Infrastructure Engineer to join its growing team in Newcastle.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to take on a key role within a multidisciplinary consultancy delivering infrastructure solutions across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector developments.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a leading role in the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, managing workloads, supporting junior team members, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
The position offers exposure to a wide range of development sectors and the opportunity to contribute to complex and challenging schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders throughout all stages of project delivery.
- Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior engineers and technicians.
- Review and approve calculations, technical reports, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Represent the consultancy professionally in client meetings and external engagements.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external design teams.
- Undertake highway and drainage design in accordance with current UK standards and industry best practice.
- Prepare and develop detailed infrastructure designs for residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed‑use developments.
- Carry out site inspections and monitor construction progress, identifying and resolving technical issues where required.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports to support planning applications, including Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, and related documentation.
- Liaise with local authorities and statutory undertakers regarding approvals, agreements, and technical submissions.
Requirements
- Degree‑qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered status, or working towards Chartership, with a recognised professional institution such as the ICE.
- Demonstrable experience within a consultancy environment.
- Strong project management and client‑facing skills.
- Proven experience in highway and drainage design across a range of development sectors.
- Working knowledge of relevant UK design standards and approval processes.
- Experience using industry‑standard software such as Auto CAD, Civil 3D, Auto Track, Micro Drainage, Flow, or similar civil engineering design packages.
- Understanding of highway and drainage adoption agreements, including Sections38,278,104, and related statutory processes.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
