We are working on behalf of a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy to recruit a Principal Structural Engineer for their London office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced structural engineer looking to take on a senior technical and leadership role within a busy London-based team, delivering complex and high-profile projects across a range of sectors.
The Role
As Principal Structural Engineer, you will provide technical leadership on a variety of projects from concept through to completion. You will be responsible for managing project teams, maintaining technical excellence, and building strong client relationships, while remaining hands-on in design.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver complex structural engineering projects
- Provide technical oversight and review of designs, calculations, and drawings
- Design in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber
- Manage and mentor engineers and technicians
- Act as a key client-facing contact, attending meetings and providing technical advice
- Ensure compliance with UK design codes, standards, and best practice
- Support work-winning activities, bids, and proposals
- Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the London team
Candidate Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status (IStructE or ICE)
- Significant experience within a UK structural engineering consultancy
- Proven track record of leading projects and teams
- Strong technical capability and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercially aware with a proactive, collaborative approach
