Our client is a specialist electrical engineering consultancy delivering high-quality earthing and lightning protection solutions across the power, utilities, industrial, commercial, and infrastructure sectors. Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, they are seeking an Earthing & Lightning Protection Consultant to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from substation earthing assessments and high-voltage power infrastructure schemes to lightning protection designs for commercial developments, industrial facilities, and complex operational environments.
The Role
The successful candidate will support the delivery of earthing and lightning protection projects, providing technical analysis, design solutions, risk assessments, and engineering advice to a broad client base. The role offers exposure to technically challenging projects while working alongside highly experienced engineers within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake earthing design studies and assessments for electrical infrastructure projects.
- Produce lightning protection designs and risk assessments in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Carry out engineering calculations, technical evaluations, and design reviews.
- Prepare clear and concise technical reports and design documentation.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
- Assist with site inspections, testing activities, and technical investigations where required.
- Support the delivery of projects across power generation, utilities, industrial, commercial, and infrastructure sectors.
- Contribute to the development of innovative, practical, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree or HND qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in earthing design, lightning protection design, or a related electrical engineering field.
- Experience using industry-standard earthing design software, such as CDEGS, and/or lightning protection risk assessment tools.
- Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to manage client relationships and provide professional engineering advice.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings when required.
