A leading construction-led engineering consultancy is seeking a skilled Temporary Works Design Engineer to join its growing Surrey team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer with at least 4 years’ experience in temporary works design who is looking to work on technically challenging projects across the UK’s built environment and infrastructure sectors.

Working as part of a highly respected engineering team, you will contribute to the delivery of innovative and buildable temporary works solutions on complex construction projects including basements, demolition, structural alterations, high-rise developments, and major infrastructure schemes. The business has built a strong reputation for integrating temporary and permanent works design to improve buildability, reduce programme durations, and deliver practical engineering solutions on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver temporary works solutions from concept through to detailed design
  • Prepare calculations, drawings, reports, and technical specifications
  • Liaise closely with contractors, clients, and project teams
  • Attend site visits and provide engineering support during construction
  • Deliver practical and buildable solutions aligned with construction sequencing and site constraints
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises
Requirements
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in temporary works or construction engineering
  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Strong understanding of BS 5975 and temporary works procedures
  • Experience working on complex construction or infrastructure projects
  • Proficient with structural analysis software and engineering design tools
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Progressing toward Chartership (ICE or IStructE) would be advantageous
